TAMPA, Fla.– Hillsborough Community College (HCC) in partnership with the Center for Transformation and Innovation (CTI) is working to facilitate a visioning and strategic planning process to map out the college’s future. The process comes in anticipation of the college’s 50th anniversary, which will take place during the 2018-2019 academic year.
Since January, CTI has interviewed more than 500 students, teachers and staff, and plans to meet with more than 30 essential community leaders in the coming months including Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn, Hillsborough County Administrator Mike Merrill and several prominent business owners.
“We are taking this unique opportunity to engage the college and community in crafting a bold new vision for HCC on a 20-year horizon. Building upon our rich history of service to the region, we intend to project forward a future in which HCC serves on the vanguard of higher education and will play a reenergized role in serving the Tampa Bay area,” said HCC President Dr. Ken Atwater.
HCC and CTI, in collaboration with community influencers, are working to develop a long-term strategy to accomplish the following:
• Identify trends and emerging educational methods and technologies.
• Identify labor market needs versus current HCC offerings.
• Develop a bold new vision and define college and community goals to achieve that vision.
“We are intent on listening and utilizing feedback from the college and community to assess current and future conditions, identify strategic growth opportunities and challenges, and create a flexible and adoptable strategy map,” said CTI CEO and Founder Mo Kasti. “HCC is already a premier educational establishment in the Tampa Bay area, and we envision it having an even more impactful role in our community in the next 50 years.”
HCC’s mission is to deliver teaching and learning opportunities that empower students to achieve their educational goals and become contributing members of the local community and a global society. CTI’s experienced facilitators will lead the HCC team through a strategic and visioning process that will ensure HCC’s continued success in the community it serves for the foreseeable future.
