The Connections Job Development Program was the recipient of $2,459.05 in donations during its time as the charitable organization of the month at the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office. Since its inception in 1991, the Connections Job Development Program has helped job seekers in Pasco County learn the basic skills needed to prepare a resume, how to search and interview for a job, how to operate a computer and more. All services are provided to job seekers, including career advising and job skills training, at no cost to the participants.
“The Connections Job Development Program team and our clients extend our sincere appreciation to the Tax Collector and staff, the citizens and community of Pasco County for your generous contributions,” states Kim Newgard, Executive Director of Connections Job Development Program. “Your donations will support the empowerment of self-sufficiency for the unemployed and underemployed in Pasco County.”
It is estimated that at any given moment there are 15,000 people who are unemployed in Pasco County. It is also estimated that there are about 16,000 job openings in the county. Connections Job Development Program helps make the “connection” between the job and the job seeker.
“Ever since I first learned about Connections Job Development Program as a freshman legislator, assisting it to become successful became a personal priority of mine,” states Tax Collector Mike Fasano, who championed the program during his long tenure in the Florida Legislature. “It is an honor to support Connections Job Development Program. The staff, board members and volunteers who work hard to make every precious dollar stretch should be commended for their hard work. Countless people have been trained over the years and have successfully entered the job market due to the good work of this agency. The Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office is proud to support their efforts.”
