GULFPORT, FLORIDA: Tickets for the 10th Annual Gecko Ball will go on sale on the Fourth of July, available at the Gulfport Beach Bazaar (3115 Beach Boulevard South) and online at VisitGulfportFlorida.com. Gulfport’s event of the year is taking place on August 25 from 6-11pm at the historic Gulfport Casino.
Tickets will be $35 each and interested party-goers should purchase tickets as soon as possible because the event sells out every year. Reserved tables of 10 or 12 are available for purchase only in-person, in one transaction at the Gulfport Beach Bazaar and on a first-come, first-served basis.
The theme of this year’s ball is Gecko Con, celebrating the characters and stories of comic books, movies, and television. Guests are highly encouraged to dress in theme appropriate costumes and be creative. There will be a costume contest – you never know who is watching! Anonymous judges will evaluate costumes throughout the night and select the top three individual and top three group costumes. The final winners in each category will be chosen based on applause from the audience.
The Gecko Ball also features live music with a full dance floor all night, delicious food, cash bar, and live and silent auctions. The live auction is the signature of the Gecko Ball, showcasing several one-of-a-kind gecko art creations made by local artists. The silent auction is one of the best in the area, including more than 100 unique packages.
Gulfport celebrates the Gecko each year with a series of whimsical events at the end of summer including the 18th Annual GeckoFest street festival, 11th Annual Gecko Crawl, and the Fourth Annual “Art Gecko Show”. All Gecko events are sponsored by the non-profit Gulfport Merchants Chamber and a portion of proceeds is donated to local charities each year. Community Support Grants will be made to the Gulfport Multipurpose Senior Center Foundation, Operation Regroup, and the Sonia Plotnick Health Fund. Visit GeckoFest.com for more information on all events.
