BOKEELIA, FL, June 2018 -‐ A new music production studio has opened on Pine Island. After 25+ years working in the music industry in NYC and then Albuquerque, NM, Howard “Merlin” Wulkan has moved to the region with his wife Lainie, President of the Holistic Chamber of Commerce and founder/host of Zeta Global Radio to start his new business – Farmadelica Sound, a continuation of Wulkan’s former studio based in Albuquerque, NM.
A year-‐in-‐the-‐making and miraculously saved from Hurricane Irma in 2017, the facility is tucked away on a tranquil 40 acre palm farm in Bokeelia, on the northern end of Pine Island. It features a full-‐service recording studio with a large live room and control room, plus space for writing, rehearsing or just contemplating. “It’s a creator’s paradise,” says Wulkan. “The studio is all about the art of record making. I like to combine old school and new school techniques to give the best possible sonic options to each client.”
On June 23, 2018, a brand new metal project will be recorded at the “Farm;” a unique mixture of classic UK speed metal and modern “metal-‐core.” The band features UK-‐based guitarist and songwriter Paul Wright, Tom Schofield, co-‐founder of Soil/founder of Oppressor and bassist DieTrich Thrall of Beauty In The Suffering & Lords of Acid, who shared he’s “blown away by the riffs & everything about the project…” The as-‐yet-‐to-‐be-‐named metal album kicks off a series of larger-‐scale endeavors Wulkan has in the works, including recording sessions with legendary alt rock guru Mark Burgess, founder of UK’s The Chameleons, early in 2019. Wulkan hopes projects such as these will attract more musicians and artists to the region. “Farmadelica Sound is an ever-‐growing creative community we are establishing here on the Farm. It’s a safe haven for creating and always will be.”
Wulkan and his wife are excited about the potential for a thriving music scene in Southwest Florida. “Southwest Florida has always been a hotbed for everything from hard rock and metal to country, hip hop and bluegrass. I’m honored to be a part of the community and look forward to bringing artists from all over the world to our neck of the woods,” stated Wulkan. Howard is also working on an incredible collection of music and spoken word, entitled Music2HealtheEarth, alongside his wife Lainie, who leads the project’s global marketing efforts. In his life as a composer, he works with his writing partner, opera singer Amy Owens. The electro-‐pop duo known as HAETHOR recently released their debut album. Wulkan has a solo studio album planned for release early in 2019 as well.
