AT&T Funds STEM Curriculum at Pinellas Park High School

June 8, 2018 by Post

LARGO, Fla. – As many as 2,000 students from Pinellas Park High School will have an opportunity for hands-on STEM experiences using cutting-edge technology in their academies of Business, Criminal Justice and First Responders through a $10,000 AT&T contribution to the Pinellas Education Foundation.

AT&T’s contribution will help enhance the high school’s STEM curriculum when the school acquires a drone, which will be used by students in all three academies as well as their after-school STEM club. The drone will enable students to have access to the latest technology across multiple fields of study, including coding and thermal camera technology. This will catalyze real-world learning experiences that will enhance their connections to future careers in law enforcement, entrepreneurship, emergency management and technology.

“Students are seeing the importance of STEM degrees based on the fact that STEM careers are growing faster than other occupations and STEM degree holders have a higher income even in non-STEM careers.” said Edwin Narain, AT&T regional director “AT&T is proud to work with Pinellas Park High School to provide opportunities for STEM curriculum that ensure a brighter future for our students”

According to Pinellas Education Foundation President Stacy Carlson, “The knowledge and experience students will receive through STEM curriculum while learning about the use of drones greatly contributes to our students connecting relevance between classroom learned and advanced technologies. We are grateful that AT&T is helping to expand these opportunities for our students.”
