The City of South Pasadena names Suzanne Burtzlaff the 2017 Business Person of the Year
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (May 29, 2018) – Suzanne Burtzlaff, Executive Director of The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay, was recently named the 2017 Business Person of the Year by the city of South Pasadena.
As the Executive Director of The Fountains, Suzanne has played a vital role in fostering a close partnership between The Fountains and the city. She helps facilitate and promote public safety presentations and supports local initiatives like the recent “Prevent the Fall, Prevent the Call” campaign and has also served as an active member of the Business Revitalization Committee.
“In the city of St. Petersburg, the number of 911 calls has dramatically increased with the senior population,” said Burtzlaff. “In the past, more people were calling Emergency Medical Services as their primary source of healthcare rather than for true emergies. That’s why we’ve partnered with the South Pasadena Fire Department to help educate seniors about preventative measures to reduce falls and limit non-emergency 911 calls. Along with this, we share best practices for thriving at any age.”
Burtzlaff has more than 25 years of experience in the senior living profession, during which time she has worked at communities offering skilled nursing, assisted living and independent living. She has been with The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay, an independent, assisted living and memory care community in South Pasadena, for 12 years and has served for five years as the Exective Director.
According to her peers, Suzanne is approachable, responsive and supportive of the city. She was recognized during an awards ceremony on May 8 at South Pasadenda City Hall.
