
The Fine Arts Society of Sarasota has awarded $34,200.00 combined for financial scholarships to thirteen Sarasota County students for their continued educational pursuit in various art related studies.
Awardees attended a luncheon on May 17, 2018 at the Bird Key Yacht Club. Fine Arts Society of Sarasota President, Vern Livingston Weitz presented the awards to the recipients along with Scholarship Committee Chair, Suzanne Weitz. Members of the Society and guests were treated to performances by some of the winners and art work was exhibited by those who are pursuing visual arts degrees.
The scholarship recipients are : Katherine Acosta, Emily Cain, Austin B. Canon, Joshua Galindo, Zachary Herman, David Klos, Ariona Koopman, Zaine Lodhi, Madison T. Miller, Haley Faye Rosenthal, Elijah Schildkraut, Steven Staub, and Zoe Verbil.
The Fine Arts Society of Sarasota is dedicated to supporting and stimulating the arts in Sarasota County. They were founded in 1969 and have thus far given away over $1,000,000.00 in scholarships.
Proceeds from various society activities and events help to fund these scholarships and other select community outreach programs. The Society is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
