22-acre mixed-use development moves forward
TAMPA, FL (MAY 17, 2018) –The Bromley Companies $500M Midtown Tampa project received approval today from Tampa City Council on the development’s rezoning application. With this approval, the 1.8 million square-foot, mixed-use project between Downtown Tampa and the Westshore Business District continues to move forward to redefine the City’s core.
“We appreciate Tampa City Council and staff’s commitment and collaboration throughout the entire process,” said Nicholas Haines, Chief Executive Officer, The Bromley Companies. “We are creating a new district that is complex, and appreciate the Mayor and City staff support. We look forward to working together on next steps for this transformative project.”
Already, two major partners have committed to the project, including a 48,000-square-foot Whole Foods Market® grocery store, the largest in the Tampa metro area, and Crescent Communities, a nationally recognized, market-leading real estate company collaborating with The Bromley Companies to deliver NOVEL Midtown Tampa, a new series of multi-family residences.
“As our City continues to boom, we welcome Midtown Tampa, a model of progressive, well-planned, urban development,” said Bob Buckhorn, Mayor, City of Tampa. “Midtown Tampa will completely transform this prime location into the first truly-integrated development for the region.”
As the next step for Midtown Tampa, The Bromley Companies will work with their development team to submit a site plan to the City for approval. Included in this best-in-class team is WDG, a national planning and architecture firm. WDG provides architecture, master planning and interior design with offices in Washington, DC and Dallas, TX. Their award-winning work can be found in major metropolitan areas around the United States as well as overseas.
“I’ve worked all over the country on mixed-use developments, and the City of Tampa staff has been refreshingly open to collaboration every step of the way,” said Vince Hunter, principal, WDG Architects. “Midtown Tampa’s plans will breathe life into this underutilized site by adding a true sense of place and much needed walkability to the surrounding neighborhoods.”
