Excitement is in the air as Designing Women Boutique gears up for “Viva Italia” – their signature fundraising gala that will celebrate Italian cuisine, fashion and music with a glittery black-tie affair that is among Sarasota’s most anticipated formal events. Organizers are expecting a full house and, based on last year’s attendance numbers, are urging guests to get their tickets before the event sells out.
“This is something we look forward to all year, and it’s especially meaningful because the funds raised are used to support so many worthy causes here in our community,” said Ida Zito, president of the DWB board. “Our co-chairs Carole Crosby and Melissa Furman have a wonderful evening planned with exciting entertainment, elegant designer cocktail attire, and a fabulous menu that celebrates the best of Italian culture.”
Slated for November 30th at Michael’s On East in Sarasota, the evening will begin at 6 p.m. with cocktails and live music. After dinner and dancing, guests will be treated to musical performances as well as a live auction led by Michael Klauber that will include gift baskets, excursions and vacation packages. The emcee of the evening will be Carolyn Michel, who is co-chair of the production committee along with Jean Weidner Goldstein.
Planning of the 16th annual gala is supported by the efforts of committee members Rita Greenbaum, Linda Gross, Janet Gale Hammer, Cindy Mason, Diane Roskamp, Jennifer Rust, Renee Shead, Batina VanWalholl, Savannah Wise and Ida Zito. Proceeds from the event will help to fund DWB’s grant program that benefits local arts and human services organizations. Tickets are $250 and may be purchased online at DesigningWomenSRQ.org or by calling 941-366-5293.
