Grant Programs Open; New Grant Program for Local Nonprofits

May 15, 2018 by Post

The online grant system opens Monday, May 21 for applications.

The Arts Council, Hillsborough County’s Local Arts Agency, has announced two grant programs are opening to applications: its new Community Arts Impact Grant program and its Cultural Development Grant program. The programs have different requirements but both are open to nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations in Hillsborough County. The Arts Council’s online grant system will begin accepting applications on Monday, May 21.

The new Community Arts Impact Grants are project-specific grants and provide $1000 to $5000 in funding. The grants can be used to support arts or cultural projects for underserved populations or areas throughout the county, as part of a larger mission to extend accessibility to arts programming. Additionally, this grant program is meant to provide nimble/flexible funding while serving as a “training opportunity” for small, community-based organizations that are new to grant writing and/or seeking support from the Arts Council. The application period for this grant program begins Monday, May 21 and ends Friday, July 13. More information on https://TampaArts.org.

The Cultural Development Grants are general program support grants that provide various levels of funding with a maximum of $30,000. This program provides support to local cultural organizations with programming that not only serves diverse audiences but also reaches geographically diverse communities. In addition, it is the intent of the program to encourage the development of both cultural and administrative operations of these organizations. Funds provided through this grant program are also intended to enhance the organization’s ability to attract new audiences and increase funding from other sources. The application period for this grant program begins Monday, May 21 and ends Friday, June 15. New applicants must attend one of the workshops being held this month. More information on https://TampaArts.org.

Workshops to discuss eligibility and application requirements are coming up. The first will be held Monday, May 21, 10 am at the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County followed by another at Winthrop Arts Factory in Riverview on Wednesday, May 30 at 10 am. The workshops are free but registration is requested. Go to https://TampaArts.org.

Both grant programs are reimbursement-based. Funding comes from the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners and is administered by the Arts Council.

Links to the online applications, grant guidelines, frequently asked questions and sample applications are available at TampaArts.org. For questions or technical assistance with the applications Terri Simons, Director of Program Services and Communications at 813.276.8250.
