GULFPORT, FLORIDA: A group art exhibit from May 31 through June 30 will help celebrate LGBTQ Pride Month, featuring the work of 18 visual artists living and/or working in Gulfport. The Second Annual “ArtOut: LGBTQ Artists in Gulfport” will include selected art work by Patsi Aguero, Diane Bains, Jill Barber, Doreen Bryant, Elissa Cardamone, Michael Chapman, Edie Daly, John Deters, Eagle Finegan, Cedar Kindy, Karen Lyndel, Brenda McMahon, Denise Keegan, John Shevlin, Rachel Stevenson, Linda Todd, Deb Wolfe and Barb Zegarek. Media represented in the exhibit will include acrylics, oils, watercolors, glass, ceramics, photography, mixed media and more.
The work will be on display in the atrium space of Gulfport Public Library, 5501 28th Avenue South. An opening reception will be held at the Library on Thursday, May 31 at 7 p.m. Complimentary beverages and hors d’oeuvre will be offered. The reception is free and open to the public.
“ArtOut” is presented by the LGBTQ Resource Center at Gulfport Public Library. The Center was established in 2014 and is the first of its kind in a public library setting in Florida, providing collections, services and events throughout the year to the local LGBTQ community, its friends and family. The Center is a project of the non-profit Circle of Friends of the Gulfport Public Library.
