LARGO – The Central Pinellas Chamber of Commerce has announced the 2018 recipients of its annual Largo High School scholarships. Each of the three winners was presented with a $1,000 award.
They are Ritesh Chandrasekaran, who’ll be attending UCF and studying biomedical engineering; Ambar Matos-Gonzalez who will be entering USF St. Petersburg and majoring in exercise physiology; and Nathalie Nunez Aguilar who plans to attend St. Petersburg College to study nursing.
The selection was based on the students’ transcripts and interviews by members of the Chamber’s Scholarship Committee, which this year included Laurie Bunce of Centratel; Melody Hunter, Charles Rutenberg; Nate Cocco, State Farm/Team Cocco; Lana Walsh, Grow Financial; and Crystal Sherrill, PSCU.
“We had many great applicants for these scholarships,” said Bunce. “It was very difficult to narrow our choices to three. Today’s students are tomorrow’s business and community leaders, and we believe that Ritesh, Ambar and Nathalie exemplify the spirit and commitment required to succeed. We look forward to following their progress and sharing in their success.”
