Spring Hill, Florida (May 3, 2018) – Recently, Oak Hill Hospital held an organ donor flag raising ceremony and prayer memorial service at the South Tower main entrance flag pole. Carlos Cardona, BSN, RN, CCRN, Director of Clinical Excellence and Project Management welcomed the group. Mr. Cardona, as the leader of the organ donation program at Oak Hill Hospital, explained the organ donation process and the impact organ donation has on our community. In addition to the raising of the flag, Rev. Emory Ailes, a LifeLink of Florida volunteer, spoke about his experience as a kidney recipient from a living donor in 2010. The ceremony ended with Father Mike Kutz offering prayers for all donors and their families.
Oak Hill Hospital recently received a platinum recognition for its participation in the National Hospital Organ Donation campaign. The platinum recognition was for encouraging hospital staff and community members to enroll in their state registry as organ, eye, and tissue donors. The award was sponsored by the US Department of Health & Human Services, Human Resources & Services Administration, Health Care Systems Bureau, Division of Transplantation.
