
OSPREY, FL / The Oaks Women’s Club (OWC) recently awarded a total of $75,000 to 15 high-achieving high school seniors with a scholarship award as part of the Women’s Club long-standing tradition of supporting local young women bound for college. Each of the 15 recipients received $5,000 to help them begin their college careers.
“These talented young women have shown exceptional academic ability along with community involvement, and financial need,” said Oaks Women’s Club Scholarship Chair, Robin Citron. “On behalf of the Oaks Women’s Club, we are honored to grow our scholarship program that continues to invest in women and their futures.”
The Oaks Women’s Club Scholarship program began just after the 9/11 attacks and in the first year of the program, the OWC raised funds to award 3 high school seniors $3,000 scholarships. Since its inception in 2001, the scholarship awards have grown year after year. To date, the scholarship awards have assisted over 100 local students over the last 17 years awarding a total of $395,000 in scholarship funds.

• Emily Rose Rumisek — Northport High School
• Sasha Gale Smolker – Venice High School

The 2018 Scholarship Awards were awarded to each student achiever during a luncheon event in their honor held on April 11 at The Oaks Club.
