OSPREY, FL (April 29th, 2018)- Sarasota Crew raced at the FSRA Sweep State Championships at Nathan Benderson Park on Saturday and Sunday. Sarasota Crew’s Varsity and Freshman athletes compiled 17 entries in 13 events and raced against 41 other teams.
Sarasota Crew athletes came home with 11 first place finishes, 2 s econd place finishes, and 1 third place finish. “This weekend’s racing was tremendous. It makes me proud to have our student-athletes represent our area so well. To be able to come out on top of such incredible competition is truly awe inspiring.” stated Casey Galvanek, long time Head Coach of Sarasota Crew. “Our staff and families put in a tremendous amount of work to allow our kids to make such strong statements on the water and in the community.”
Races were 1,500 meters, Sarasota Crew won the Girl’s Points Trophy, the Boy’s Points Trophy, and the overall Team Points Trophy, this is the eighth consecutive year that Sarasota Crew has won the FSRA Sweep State Championship. Sarasota Crew’s next regatta will be the USRowing Southeast Youth Championships on May 12-13th at Nathan Benderson Park.
