Lakeland, FL – Anthony Zappia, MD, a robotic and general surgery specialist who provides care to patients from Watson Clinic Highlands at 2300 E. County Rd. 540A in south Lakeland, was recently recognized for performing his 500th procedure utilizing the da Vinci® robotic system. This distinction, which was announced by Intuitive Surgical, the creator of the da Vinci® Surgical System, ranks Dr. Zappia as Polk County’s leading General Surgeon in robotic surgical experience and among the top five in the Tampa Bay area.
Dr. Zappia’s areas of expertise include robotic surgery for a variety of minimally invasive procedures including hernia repair, gall bladder removal, colon and stomach surgery. Dr. Zappia received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN. He completed his General Surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI.
