Who: TransCare Medical Transportation, a division of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay.
Why this is important: People in our community need safe and reliable medical transportation during a medical crisis. The Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) accreditation is awarded to ambulance companies that exhibit high-quality patient care by meeting a series of rigorous standards established by the ambulance industry.
TAMPA, FL – (April 23, 2018) TransCare Medical Transportation, a division of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, has received a 3 year reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) through 2020. TransCare is one of only 16 ambulance services in the state of Florida, and the only ambulance service in Hillsborough County, to receive this accreditation.
“The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay is here to ensure that no one in our community has to face crisis alone. We know there is no greater crisis than when someone is experiencing a medical emergency. We always strive to offer the best possible care, and the CAAS accreditation supports our efforts to achieve this,” said Clara Reynolds, President & CEO of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay.
CAAS is the “gold standard” for medical transportation within the US. Accreditation validates that an ambulance service is providing the highest quality care to all patients it transports. CAAS evaluates various aspects of a provider’s operations including financial management, clinical standards, human resources, communications, equipment, and risk management.
TransCare provides Basic Life Support (BLS) transports throughout Hillsborough County, behavioral health transports to and from all area hospitals and psychiatric facilities, non-emergency medical transportation between medical facilities, non-emergency wheelchair transportation, and stand-by services for special events. TransCare is a social enterprise of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. Revenues from TransCare help fund various Crisis Center of Tampa Bay community programs and services. Last year TransCare provided over 38,000 medical and behavioral health transports.
