Tampa, Fla. (April 20, 2018) – Colliers International’s Tampa-based Student Housing Group has added industry expert Jamie Swick to the team as Senior Associate of Student Housing Investments. Swick has worked in the student housing arena for over 18 years, and brings significant experience in representing buyers and sellers of student housing properties nationwide.
Swick has substantial experience in every facet of student housing – from operations and leasing to underwriting and acquisitions. Her career started in on-the-ground operations as a leasing agent with Collier Companies in Gainesville, and she quickly moved her way up to VP of acquisitions, and assisted the company in acquisitions and dispositions totaling more than $500 million and representing more than 5,000 beds.
For the past six years, Swick served as principal of her own Florida-based firm, 5 Element Advisors, which offers consulting services for private off-campus multifamily student housing, as well as intensive market research for various universities.
Her specializations include acquisition and disposition advisory services, asset repositioning, highly specialized market reports, due diligence services, capital expenditure assistance, market analysis, operational efficiency and maximization of net operating income. She is particularly proficient in negotiating sales contracts, joint venture agreements for both private and public partners, loan documents and other financing structures including 1031 exchanges, HUD debt, and CMBS debt.
“Jamie’s significant experience will further strengthen our student housing capabilities,” said Ryan Kratz, President of Colliers International Florida. “Her deep understanding of the operational and financial aspects of student housing will be a valuable asset to the team, along with her knowledge and contacts around the country with universities, buyers and sellers.”
Swick will partner with Dorothy Jackman, Executive Managing Director, and Sean Baird, Director, of Colliers’ Student Housing Group, which is based in Tampa and works with buyers and sellers of student housing properties nationwide.
Swick earned her Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Florida.
