Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) recently approved American Momentum Bank as a continuing education (CE) course provider for its Community Association Managers and Firms (CAM) category.
The DBPR is the agency charged with licensing and regulating businesses and professionals in the State of Florida, including Community Associations and Firms. American Momentum, which includes a premier Association Banking division, is one of only three banks in the state certified to provide CE courses in this professional category.
“We take a very consultative approach to Association Banking and consider ourselves to be an extension of each of our CAM teams,” said Heather Karamitsos, Senior Vice President, Director of Association Banking. “It’s important to know everything about the type of business line we support and what our clients need to be successful. Getting this certification and teaching these courses is one way that, as one of their primary vendors, we can help our CAMs be successful.”
The application process for certification took approximately two months. It involved providing information to demonstrate that Karamitsos and American Momentum possessed the professional expertise and ability to offer valuable CE courses to Community Association Managers and Firms.
Florida requires CAMs to earn a total of 20 CE credits every two years in several different course categories: four Legal Update credits, four Human Resources credits, six Operations and Physical Property credits, and six Insurance and Financial Management credits. American Momentum is offering CE courses in every category.
Currently, American Momentum is hosting monthly CE luncheons and dinners in Sarasota and Fort Myers, respectively. Karamitsos hosts a CE course on Association Lending. Other experts with whom American Momentum has relationships host courses in the other course categories.
“Our clients come to us for just about everything – helping them find other companies to purchase or updates on the latest legislation – whether it has to do with banking or not,” Karamitsos said. “Offering CE courses helps us stay at the top of our game and helps us better serve our clients.”
