St. Petersburg Animal Shelter Seeks Sponsors for Family-Friendly

Shuffleboard Tournament

St. Petersburg, Fla. (April 11, 2018) – Friends of Strays invites the St. Petersburg community to hit the courts for cause at its first annual “Shuffle for Strays” event. The shuffleboard tournament will raise funds that help non-profit animal shelter Friends of Strays provide life-saving adoption services and veterinary care for animals in need.

Teams of two will compete for a 3D printed trophy and other prizes in this family-friendly and dog-friendly tournament at the historic St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club.

Team tickets include tournament entry fee, commemorative event t-shirts, barbeque lunch catered by M-N-M BBQ and one drink ticket per person. Individual non-tournament tickets are also available for those who would like to play on their own or watch the tournament while enjoying food and drinks. Local craft brewery Pinellas Ale Works will be supplying beer for a $5 suggested donation.

For the pups, Whatadog Play Center will have their “Lure Course” set up for $5 per dog. This course, which involves chasing a mechanically operated lure, provides both mental and physical stimulation and is a fun source of exercise that any dog can enjoy.

“In our 40th year, we are ready to help more pets find their forever homes than ever before,” said Dara Eckart, Friends of Strays Executive Director. “Whether you’re a shuffleboard pro, or you’re new to the game, everyone is welcome to come out and have some fun with us, while helping to save animal lives.”

Shuffle for Strays will take place on Sunday, May 6, from 2 to 5 p.m. The St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club is located at 559 Mirror Lake Drive N. The winning team will receive a prize pack that includes two 3D printed trophies by sponsor Tangible Labs and other prizes.

Tickets and sponsorship packages can be purchased here.
