Venice, FL, APRIL 10, 2018 — Actress/Writer/Producer Chelsea Gonzalez, graduate of The Out-Of-Door Academy and daughter of ArtisTree Landscape CEO Joe Gonzalez, has had her short film “Susanne and the Man” accepted at seven U.S. festivals, including this year’s Sarasota Film Festival.
In “Susanne and the Man,” Chelsea plays Susanne, who endeavors to find her own voice and rhythm during a job interview with “the king of mansplaining.” The light comedy, which explores gender stereotypes and ends with an explosive twist, is being paired with the film feature “Virginia, Minnesota” playing April 14-15 at the Sarasota Film Festival.
“Writing about topical issues of the day has always been one of my passions,” Gonzalez said, noting the current Me Too movement. “Taking today’s gender dialogue over the top in this piece was extremely gratifying and so far seems to be a theme that’s resonating on the festival circuit.”
Originally from Sarasota and now residing in Los Angeles, Gonzalez has appeared on CBS’ “Criminal Minds,” ABC’s “Castle,” Hulu’s “The Mindy Project” and HBO’s “The Jinx.” She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from Syracuse University.
