Two Fergeson Skipper, P.A., shareholders have been recertified by The Florida Bar. Richard R. Gans has been recertified in Wills, Trusts and Estates and David S. Maglich has been recertified in Business Litigation.
Only seven percent of eligible Florida Bar members, approximately 5,000 lawyers, are board certified. A lawyer who is a member in good standing of The Florida Bar and who meets the standards prescribed by the state’s Supreme Court may become board certified in one or more of the 27 certification fields. Each area of certification may contain higher or additional standards. Board certification is valid for five years, during which time the attorney must continue to practice law and attend Florida Bar-approved continuing legal education courses. To be recertified lawyers must meet requirements similar to those for initial certification. Not all qualified lawyers are certified, but those who are board certified have taken extra steps to have their competence and experience evaluated.
Gans was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1994. He is certified by The Florida Bar as a specialist in wills, trusts and estates, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. His areas of practice include estate planning, probate and estate administration, trusts, wills, taxation law, charitable organizations and planning, and business organizations. Maglich was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1984. He is board certified as a specialist in business litigation law and as a specialist in civil trial law. His areas of practice include business and commercial law, construction law, securities law, litigation and appeals, and personal injury. Both attorneys have an AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rating from the attorney rating site Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating available for an attorney’s legal ability and professional ethics.
