During the month of April the Connections Job Development Program will be the featured charitable giving organization at the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office. Since its inception in 1991, the Connections Job Development Program helps job seekers in Pasco County with learning the basic skills needed to prepare a resume, how to search and interview for a job, how to operate a computer and more. All services are provided to job seekers, including career advising and job skills training, at no cost to the participants.
“Connections Job Development Program would like to thank the office of Mike Fasano, Tax Collector, for supporting our program which helps job seekers gain entry into the workforce,” states Ann Wilkinson, Executive Director of Connections. “We are so grateful for being chosen as charity of choice for the month of April!”
It is estimated that at any given moment there are 15,000 people who are unemployed in Pasco County. It is also estimated that there are about 16,000 job openings in the county. Connections helps make the “connection” between the job and the job seeker. Individuals interested in supporting Connections Job Development Program may make a contribution of any amount. Donations will be accepted through the mail or in person at any of the five tax collector offices in Pasco County. Connections will receive 100% of all donations made.
“Ever since I first learned about Connections Job Development Program as a freshman legislator, assisting it to become successful became a personal priority of mine,” states Tax Collector Mike Fasano, who championed the program during his long tenure in the Florida Legislature. “Programs without a high profile, like Connections, could not survive without excellent administrators who know how to make every dollar stretch, as well as the dedicated volunteers committed to its mission. The countless people who have been trained over the years is a testimony to the staff and volunteers who do all they can to help people learn the skills needed to navigate the world of job seeking.”
