LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. — As part of its belief that the strength of a company comes from its collective ability to contribute to the greater good, Neal Communities, southwest Florida’s premier, private homebuilder, recently made a $1,000 bronze sponsorship donation to Future Builders of America.
The gift contributed to the organization’s 14th annual Leadership Summit. Investing in the future of the construction industry, the 2018 Leadership Summit was held March 8-11 at the FFA Leadership Training Center in Haines City. During the four-day event, students from across the state will have the opportunity to participate in construction-related classes and activities as well as team building competitions, interviewing practices and a model career fair, among other opportunities.
“Our organization is truly supported by the construction industry, especially by sponsors such as Neal Communities,” said Cindy Hall, the executive director of Future Builders of America. “For many years, Neal Communities has been a premier sponsor of the Summit where students from across the state gather for four days of hands-on activities in various jobs in the construction trades. Now more than ever, FBA’s outreach and commitment to provide a skilled workforce to the construction industry is vital to addressing the very real workforce shortage the industry faces today. We could not accomplish our goals without the support of our sponsors. They really are advocates for our organization and our future workforce.”
Industry leaders created the Future Builders of America as a way to help promote the construction industry by engaging in construction educational activities and helping students understand and pursue rewarding careers in construction and related trades. The organization links students in area schools with the local building community through guest speaker and field trip opportunities to building sites while also providing opportunities for summer and post-graduation employment.
Future Builders of America hosted its first Leadership Camp in 2004 with seven students in attendance. Since its inception, the Leadership Camp has grown both in quality of students and quality of programs, and in 2016, the event was renamed the Leadership Summit.
