SARASOTA, Fla. — Neal Communities, southwest Florida’s premier, private homebuilder, recently received a gold award for Best Brochure for a Builder from the National Association of Home Builders National Sales and Marketing Council.
The award was presented to Neal Communities for its Blue Book, which is designed to ensure that employees at every level understand the company’s vision, mission and core values.
The 18-page brochure was created to help employees better understand what sets Neal Communities apart and how integral these philosophies are to the builder’s continued success. The Blue Book serves as a reminder of all that Neal Communities stands for and its eight core guiding character principles, which include integrity, trust, reputation, dignity, conservative, discipline, caring, challenge and being exceptional in everything they do.
“This is a major commitment by a very well-established builder,” said Dave Miles, brand strategist for Milesbrand, a Colorado-based real estate branding and ad agency, which created the Blue Book. “We took them back to their roots and examined who they are as a company and aspire to continue to be. Neal Communities went through a four-step branding process, which included identifying their core values and transforming those into a succinct expression — do the right thing.

The idea behind the brochure was to incorporate Neal Communities’ brand identity with employee training and educate team members on all the builder stands for, including its vision to be the most respected homebuilder in the markets it serves; its belief that where you live truly matters and its strong desire to make a positive impact in the community, among other values and principles.
Milesbrand spent nearly three months working on the brochure before presenting it to the builder.
