Inspired by nature and informed by the principles of feng shui, Betty Greenspan’s exquisite botanical creations delight the eye and spirit.
Greenspan is the featured artist at the Art of Ireland Gallery during the First Friday Art Walk in downtown Sarasota, Friday, April 6.
(Sarasota, FL) As a child growing up on Long Island, Betty Greenspan spent long, happy hours playing in her father’s prized flower garden and learning about the natural world through his eyes. Although she eventually pursued a nursing career, she never strayed far from the art and science of plant cultivation. Greenspan always found time to study horticultural interior design at the New York Botanical Gardens. Later, she became an advanced master gardener, and won numerous awards for her floral designs.
Greenspan has now poured her blossoming creativity into her latest venture—Fusion Botanical Arts. Her new Sarasota-based business features an array of permanent botanicals and water gardens. Greenspan’s unique designs are inspired by nature—and created from materials found in nature. Before creating her arrangements, she combs Florida’s beaches and hammocks seeking authentic, native elements. Many of her designs are based on the principals of feng shui, color therapy, and vibrational healing modalities. Greenspan also draws on her knowledge of the “chakra,” or spiritual energy, to create arrangements that foster healing. Some of her surreal designs even evoke the imagery of Salvador Dali, one of Greenspan’s favorite artists.
What’s the attraction to permanent botanicals?
“These exquisite creations stand on their own as design elements for your home or office,” says Greenspan. “We don’t compare them to fresh bouquets, which hold their own beauty and charm. My pieces are one-of-a-kind statements, usually designed for a specific person or place.” Greenspan adds that, “Permanent botanicals are also perfect for people with allergies. They’re also eco-friendly because I use only natural materials.”
The best part? Her pieces are made to last.
“They’re called ‘permanent’ for a reason,” Greenspan says. “They never lose their beauty. No matter how long you stay away, they’ll always be waiting to greet you when you return.”
Greenspan displays her creations at Blue Dharma Fine Art Gallery in Towles Court, 1938 Adams Lane, Sarasota, and Art of Ireland Gallery, 45 S. Palm Ave., Sarasota. Greenspan will be the featured artist at Art of Ireland Gallery during the First Friday Art Walk, Friday, April 6, 5-9 p.m. She is also available for commissions and custom designs.
