(Bradenton, FL, March 8, 2018) When Bradenton resident Bill Pooley was 23 years old he took his son to All Children’s Hospital due to a heart condition. Although his son never needed blood transfusions he saw other children who did and was inspired to begin his blood donor journey. At age 33, he succumbed to blindness due to Hereditary Glaucoma but kept donating, believing it was one of the most important acts of volunteering he could do for his community. Every two weeks a taxi awaits him and escorts him to and from the blood center so he can donate platelets. Now at age 62, Bill will reach his 100-gallon donor milestone, a feat few donors ever achieve!
