(Tampa, FL) March 5, 2018 VSA Florida and the University of Tampa’s Art Therapy Department will be facilitating Camp SpARTan program at the Scarfone/Hartley Gallery March 12-16, 2018. This pilot arts-immersion camp that will run from 9 AM-2 PM daily, is geared for elementary age students with disabilities and will include visual art activities, music and dance/movement.
With VSA Florida teaching artists taking the lead, art therapy students will get a bird’s eye view and practical experience into making adaptations and modifications to an arts-based curriculum that includes everyone in attendance, regardless of ability.
“UT students will gain hands-on experience supporting their studies and provide memorable experiences for these elementary students that will foster their interest in the arts,” said Jocelyn Boigenzahn, gallery director. “We are so happy to team up with UT’s art therapy instructors and VSA Florida to support this incredible opportunity for these students to engage with the arts.”
Space in the program is limited. Register at http://www.vsafl.org/university-tampa-arttherapy-program-and-vsa-florida-present-animals-florida-spring-break-arts-camp. The Camp SpARTan program is possible through the support of the Heart of Neiman Marcus Foundation, the Arts Council of Hillsborough County, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners and the UT Friends of the Gallery.
