Madeira Beach, FL (March 1, 2018) – On Friday, March 9, more than 200 players and families will be attending opening ceremonies for the Madeira Beach Youth Baseball & Softball (MBYBS) a Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken League. The teams will gather to kickoff the season surrounded by a carnival style atmosphere. There will be food, raffles, face painting, bounce houses, live Alligator showing and other fun activities starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Madeira Beach Recreation Fields, located at 200 Rex Place, Madeira Beach. On Saturday, March 10, opening day games will kick off at 8:45 a.m. for t-ball, baseball and softball. The public is invited to attend all the festivities.
During the opening ceremonies Madeira Beach City Manager Jonathan Evans will throw out the first pitch. Board president Brody Henkel will reveal the championship banners for the 11U baseball 2016 and 12U softball 2017 teams. There will also be a wiffle ball home run derby, prizes and more.
The MBYBS League is a partnership with the city of Madeira Beach. Currently the MBYBS league offers t-ball, baseball and softball for kids ages 4-16.
The league is managed by volunteers and funded by families and businesses.
