BRANDON, FL: Brandon Ballet is pleased to present Cinderella. This production will honor the life of long time beneficiary, teacher and choreographer of Brandon Ballet, Richard Munro, who choreographed and designed Brandon Ballet’s original production in 2008. In addition, it will highlight the present local talents of Brandon Ballet while showcasing the many future young artists that complete our company.
Continuing with the production theme of this year, Doricha Sales’s new choreography will highlight the individual talents of current members of Brandon Ballet. Each dancer has been cast to challenge them in one or more areas for this production: through characterization, musicality, or technical bravura. Along with the stylization associated with this ballet and Prokofiev’s wonderful score, each dancer will be encouraged to reach from their learnings throughout the season to bring forth this magical ballet.
We are excited to feature Brandon’s own Sarah Parry in the leading role of Cinderella. Parry who has been trained at Brandon’s, The Dance Center, is finishing her first season as a professional dancer with Brandon Ballet after dancing with Montgomery Ballet. Parry, a former Richard Munro Scholarship recipient, is a year-round professional with Brandon Ballet allowing her to attend college in the mornings, train intensively in the afternoons and teach at The Dance Center in the evenings. Parry is a wonderful representation of the types of dancers Brandon ballet hopes to continue producing. Artistic Director, Doricha Sales states, “Artistically she is perfect for this role as she embodies the inherent kindness and care that is associated with Cinderella. In addition, her light and airy movement combined with technical precision will naturally show the duality of childhood innocence and the precipice of true love that this character carries.” Parry will be joined by a cast of 40 others, including several of the guest professional dancers that Brandon Ballet audiences have enjoyed during this season in Dracula and The Nutcracker.
The production highlights all the wonders of this classic fairy tale through humor, wonder, and beauty. Through the hilarities of the Stepsisters to the awe of the Prince’s first glimpse at Cinderella, each audience member will be able to walk away remembering to never stop believing in the magic of a pure heart, kindness, and the true beauty that lies within.
