CLEARWATER, Fla., February 28, 2018—Ultimate Medical Academy recently named Dr. Rebecca Sarlo Campus Director of its Clearwater Campus, located at 1255 Cleveland Street. In her new role, Dr. Sarlo oversees both the academic and operational functions at UMA’s ground campus, which offers allied healthcare associate degree and diploma programs to more than 150 adult learners each year.
“Dr. Sarlo’s wide range of experience and enthusiasm are certain to enhance operations and student outcomes at our Clearwater Campus,” UMA President Derek Apanovitch said. “Since joining UMA almost five years ago, she has made many important contributions to fulfilling UMA’s mission to equip and empower students to excel in healthcare careers.”
Dr. Sarlo joined UMA in 2013 as Dean of Institutional Effectiveness where she led the creation of the Online Campus and Clearwater Campus program effectiveness plans and supported data-based problem solving. She also oversaw the nonprofit institution’s advisory boards and multi-tiered student intervention services.
Prior to UMA, Dr. Sarlo worked for the Florida Department of Education. While at the FL DOE, she directed secondary school improvement efforts, and led the development and implementation of Florida’s Secondary School Problem Solving/Response to Intervention framework to improve Florida’s highest risk middle and high schools.

Dr. Sarlo is an author and sought-after national speaker on topics including school improvement, student engagement, early warning systems, and the delivery of effective multi-tiered student intervention services. She earned a Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of South Florida College of Education.
