The law firm is home to the historic Florida Brewery Company building, built in the 1800s and producing beer until 1961. In 1999, the building underwent a multi-million dollar renovation and became the home of the law firm in late 2001.
The annual event is presented by the Ybor City Museum Society and features behind-the-scenes tours of five historically significant buildings. This year’s hop showcases:
• American Institute of Architects Tampa Bay Chapter (Award-winning San Souci Building)
• Casa Oliva (Only remaining wooden cigar factory in Ybor City)
• Design Styles Architecture (former Italian grocery store)
• Lion’s Eye Institute (former F. Lozano Cigar Factory)
• Swope Rodante (former Florida Brewery)
• USAmeriBank (restored building of former Columbia Bank)
• Bonus stop: Bainbridge Ybor City Apartments (site of Vicente Martinez-Ybor’s family home)
Buildings Alive! attendees can check in at the Send-Off Party from 5-6:30 pm and enjoy food, drinks and music in the garden off the Ybor City Museum State Park, although they are encouraged to start hopping early to see as many sites as possible. Shortly after 5 pm, attendees can board one of the trolleys with on-board guides that will transport them between stops throughout the evening.
