SARASOTA COUNTY – The 2018 Gulf Coast Games for Life returns Saturday, Feb. 10, throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties.
Formerly known as the Gulf Coast Senior Games, the 2018 Gulf Coast Games for Life events are open to amateur athletes 50 years and older as of Dec. 1, 2018.
The age divisions are: 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80-84; 85-89 and 90+.
Events include bag toss, basketball shooting, bocce, bowling, cribbage, cycling, golf, horseshoes, pickleball, shuffleboard, swimming, table tennis, target shooting, tennis and track and field.
The 2018 Gulf Coast Games for Life is one of the qualifying sites for the Florida Senior Games State Competition, which will be held Dec 1-9, in Clearwater, Fla.
Medals are awarded in the Gulf Coast Games for Life to the top three athletes in each event, for each age category as first, second and third place finishers. The top five athletes in each age category qualify to compete in the Florida Senior Games State Competition.
