Bill Hume, owner of the Billy’s Corner Barber Shop, 2031 4th Street North, opens a second barber shop at 1114 Central Ave. The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday in the trendy EDGE district.
Hume states, “The warm invite to the EDGE district is hard to resist with so many cool neighbors. Bodega, Intermezzo and Enigma are a perfect match for our traditional old school approach to cutting-edge tapered haircuts. Billy’s looks forward to joining this customer service related community and providing the best cuts in the Burg.”
“It’s all thanks to the people in our community that we are able to expand,” Hume said. While he has a deserved reputation of providing professional cuts for all ages, men and women, he has also earned community respect as he and his barbers in the 4th St. Barber Shop have become well known as community advocates. He donates a day called Cuts for Cuts during which all the barbers donate 100% of the proceeds to help the families of slain Petersburg officers. He also created Christmas for Kids.
“Christmas for kids is in eighth year, and Eckerd College’s athletic director and head men’s basketball coach, Tom Ryan, has been a huge part of the program and its reach to provide Christmas for hundreds of children in St Pete! Cuts for Cops has grown up too, we are teamed up with Mike Harding and Three Daughters Brewery now. They host the event for us and it’s a been fantastic benefit the Suncoast PBA Fallen Officers Fund.”
Billy will be in the new shop from 8:30-10:30. Omar Malic from the Corner Shop will relocate to the new shop, with Billy joining him 8:30-10:30 am. All are welcome at his barber shops. Listen for the “whisper of the shears.”
