The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV), the largest homeowner’s association in the state of Florida, will hold elections on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 for open seats on the boards for Villages 2,3,7 and 8. Only property owners in these villages will be voting in this election.
Voting takes place at the new Community Center located at 445 Marigold Avenue and polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
At 6:45 a.m. the APV Registrar will open, in clear view and on video, each voting box to verify that it is empty. The boxes will then be locked and voting will begin.
Each voter will need to show a government issued picture ID that represents the name that appears on the home deed. Only owners who have their name on the deed can vote. Those without a picture ID will not be allowed to vote. Those who represent a company that owns property in a Village must make sure the company has named them as the designated voter. That designation must be on file with APV at the time of voting.
Pollsters will check IDs with the APV database and with County records to verify ownership and designated voters. Once residents are verified as the deeded homeowner or designated voter, they will be given a ballot for the Village in which they are eligible to vote. Only four Villages will take part in the 2018 elections and homeowners can only vote in the Village in which their property is located. Each deeded property is allowed one vote for each property owned.
“Our election process is very important in a community of our size and we look forward to having as many homeowners participate as possible,” said Mark Maldonado, APV General Manager. “The polls will close at 7 p.m. and the votes will be counted immediately. If residents choose, they are invited to watch the votes being counted.”
Immediately following the count, the winners in each Village will be notified by phone or email that they are expected to attend their Village Board meeting the next morning, February 14, 2018 at 8:00 a.m.
At the Village Board meeting, each individual Village will choose officers for their Village. The positions are President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The President of each Village board will then represent that Village on the APV Master Board.
The first APV Master Board meeting of 2018 will be held the same day. The meeting will be at the new Community Center located at 445 Marigold Avenue at 9:00 a.m.
This Master Board meeting may be attended by deeded property owners only. IDs will be checked at the door, as with all Master Board meetings. At this meeting, the 2018 Master Board will be seated and officers, including a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer will then be elected.
