ST. PETERSBURG, FL (January 8, 2018) – Sanitation customers who missed having Christmas trees collected during last Saturday’s citywide free collection event may still dispose of their undecorated tree by arranging for a special collection. Customers may contact Sanitation Special Collections at 893-7398, Monday-Friday, from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Customers calling after normal business hours may leave their address and trees will be picked up either at the curb or in the alley, depending on where trash is collected. Trees should be loose and not placed inside trash or recycling containers; customers should avoid placing trees against electrical poles, other trash containers, water meters, etc.
All lights, ornaments, and other decorations removed from the tree before placing it out for collection; tree stands and plastic tree disposal bags should also be removed. Holiday wreaths may be disposed of in trash containers. All collected trees will be turned into mulch, which is free to residents at the brush sites.
Undecorated trees may also be taken to one of the city’s five brush sites:
*1000 62nd Ave. NE
*7750 26th Ave. N.
*2500 26th Ave. S.
