CASS Art Opening Reception: Jason Pulgarin’s “Naughty by Nature”

December 28, 2017 by Post

What:                          The Epicurean Hotel welcomes guests and art enthusiasts in the community to preview CASS Contemporary’s newest exhibit, “Naughty by Nature” by Jason Pulgarin. The opening reception will feature a Q & A session with the artist himself. Beer from Rock Brothers Brewing, cocktails from The Mandarin Hide and hors d’oeuvres will be served. A sampling of Jason’s work will be on display in the Epicurean Hotel’s permanent satellite gallery for three months following the reception. All pieces are available for purchase for the duration of the display at the hotel.

The “Naughty by Nature” exhibit showcases an intricate series of watercolor paintings which evoke a curious combination of melancholy, erotica and the juxtaposition of strong feminist empowerment battling a troubled and fragile masculine ego. Special handmade cotton rag paper serves as Pulgarin’s medium of choice for this artistic venture. The artist’s other projects include mixed-media paintings, mural work, and guerrilla street art.

A Brooklyn, New York native, Jason Pulgarin began pursuing street art in all its forms as a teenager. Cartoons, fashion, graffiti and street culture served as his inspiration. Pulgarin became an assistant to Tristan Eaton and became a member of the street art collective, Trustocorp. From there, the artists found many shared and individual successes which transported them to Los Angeles to expand their work with more galleries. By 2012, Pulgarin moved back to Brooklyn to pursue his own art career. He still maintains a presence in Los Angeles.
