SARASOTA COUNTY – Barefoot on the Beach at Nokomis Beach Plaza is back this winter and better than ever. Formerly the Barefoot Beach Bazaar, Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources has revamped the event and moved it to a new time.
In 2018, the event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the second Saturday of January through March at Nokomis Beach Plaza, 100 S. Casey Road, Nokomis.
Barefoot on the Beach, which is free and open to the public, will still feature the Barefoot Beach Bazaar’s vendor/artisan show but will also have different themes each month to showcase the community’s economic or recreational sectors.
January’s theme will be Parks and Natural Areas Day; February will be Surf, Swim and Fish Day; and March will be Local Day, to celebrate local community organizations.
On Jan. 13, learn about local conservation efforts, costal ecology and area parks – all while shopping the popular beach bazaar.
The Feb. 10 event will have local board experts as well as a skim board demo on the sand. And on March 10, don’t miss the third and final date featuring community organizations that will share information and resources on how to get involved in Nokomis and Venice.
