SARASOTA, Fla. – Commercial construction company Halfacre Construction Company wrapped up renovations to the west jail facility for the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.
Affecting only one building, Halfacre Construction Company demolished the third floor mechanical room, removed the existing air handlers for the complex and installed a new 70-ton air handler unit on the roof of the facility.
The team from Halfacre Construction team worked with Sarasota County and the design team to develop a plan to install the new air handler unit on the roof, which saved time on the project and caused less disruption.
“We are very pleased with the recent renovations to our facility,” said Sheriff Tom Knight. “Not only is the jail a 24/7 operation that requires attention and maintenance, but it is also a facility that needs to be safe and comfortable for personnel and inmates alike. Halfacre Construction was prompt and made sure they fully understood our needs by completing each phase of the project with urgency and professionalism.”
Located at 2020 Main St. in Sarasota, the approximately $799,000 project began in March 2017.
