Osprey, FL — Members of The Oaks Club hosted a Veterans’ Day Golf Tournament to benefit Semper Fi Fund, a non-profit organization that provides immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to post 9/11 combat wounded, critically ill and catastrophically injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.
According to Tournament Chairman, Kevin Ward, the 2017 event proceeds totaled $10,000, the entirety of which will be donated to the Semper Fi Fund to continue their important work with veterans. The gift will be matched by the Bob and Renee Parsons Foundation Double Down for Veterans’ Campaign.
“We are honored to assist in every way we can for programs such as Semper Fi,” said Ward. “Many Oaks Club residents and members are retired from the military, enjoy golf and want to make a difference. Our tournament helped give back to those who serve our nation.”
More than 100 players including 28 active military personnel from MacDill Air Force Base participated in the tournament and played on the newly renovated Heron course at The Oaks Club.
The Semper Fi Fund was established in 2004 by a handful of dedicated Marine Corps spouses.
To date, the organization has awarded 149,000 grants, totaling more than $158 million in assistance to over 19,500 of our heroes and their families. Their mission is to deliver the resources needed during a soldier’s recovery and transition back to their communities, working to ensure no one is left behind.
