WEDU PBS Honored with 2 Suncoast Regional Emmy® Awards from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences

Tampa Bay, FL – The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has honored WEDU PBS, West Central Florida’s PBS station, with two Suncoast Regional Emmy® Awards.

The first Suncoast Regional Emmy® Award was presented for Sea Turtles Nesting, a segment of WEDU’s local production WEDU QUEST. The second Emmy® went to WEDU’s original documentary The Feminine Touch: The Struggle for Equality in Medicine. A third Emmy® nomination also went to WEDU’s town hall meeting Autism: Breakthrough to Hope.

 

“Each year, the staff at WEDU work diligently to produce quality programs that are of importance to the communities we serve. These Emmy® awards are a tribute to the quality of work produced by the hardworking and talented staff of WEDU PBS and our local production colleagues. We are extremely proud of the honors received by WEDU PBS recognizing the community focused programming that is at the heart of our mission,” said Jack Conely, WEDU Vice President of Content.

 

The Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is a nonprofit Florida corporation dedicated to excellence in television and offers the annual Regional Emmy Awards to television markets in the entire State of Florida; Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles and New Orleans, La.; Mobile, Ala.; Thomasville, Ga.; and Puerto Rico. Winners of the 2017 Regional Emmy® Awards were announced on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences annual ceremony in Orlando, Florida.
