Tampa, Fla. – Jan Wuliger, Hillel Academy Board of Trustees member, tonight was recognized as a 2017 Woman of Distinction by the Tampa Jewish Federation Women’s Philanthropy at the Bobbe Karpe Women of Distinction event.
Wuliger was selected for her service to the community, such as her dedication to Hillel Academy, where she began volunteering in 1985, when her son attended kindergarten at the school. She has been active in the PTA, co-chair of the Gift of Gold Fundraiser and co-chair of the Bike-A-Thon Fundraiser. Last year, Wuliger graciously returned to the Hillel family as a member of the Board of Trustees to provide her valued experience and advice.
Involvement in other community organizations is extensive. After moving to Tampa from Dallas in l981 with her family, Wuliger immediately joined the Jewish CC, and soon was induced to lead as the executive board’s vice president of the fundraising committee. She co-chaired the annual auction committee.
Wuliger has been honored with many awards, including the Bob Jacobson Memorial Award 1985-86, Tampa Jewish Federation, Special Events Chairman 1986 and United Jewish Appeal Division Chairman for Campaign 1987. She was also President of Congregation Rodeph Sholom and is very active in the National Parkinson’s Foundation.
Held at the Congregation Rodeph Sholom on Bayshore Boulevard, the evening event featured author Amy Silverstein as guest speaker and was attended by about 300 people. Twenty women from notable Jewish organizations were chosen for this 2017 Women of Distinction honor.
