Tampa, Fla. – The Patel Conservatory will present the feel-good holiday favorite, A Christmas Carol, on December 1-3 in the Straz Center for the Performing Art’s TECO Theater. Due to popular demand, an additional performance has been added, on Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.

Ebenezer Scrooge and his ghostly encounters come to life in this lavish and thrilling stage adaptation. Performed by students in grades two through 12, Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes that personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others.

With an infuriated “Bah! Humbug!” Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he’s forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his past, present and future. Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognizes his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful “Happy Christmas” before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with those that mean the most to him.

A sensory-friendly performance, designed to create a performing arts experience that is welcoming to autistic patrons or those with other disabilities that create sensory sensitivities, will be held Saturday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. Accommodations for this performance include lower sound level, lights on a low level in the theater during the performance, a reduction of strobe lighting and house lights at half. Also, patrons are free to talk and leave their seats during the performance and visit the designated quiet area.

A Christmas Carol will be presented in the TECO Theater Dec. 1-3. Performances are Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. (sensory friendly) and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Regularly priced tickets are $15 and may be purchased by calling 813.229.STAR (7827) or 800.955.1045 outside Tampa Bay, in person at the Straz Center Ticket Office or online at www.strazcenter.org.
