WEDU PBS inspires viewers with new Create® TV channel

November 20, 2017 by Post

The “do-it-yourself” channel includes programming on a range of lifestyle topics

TAMPA, Fla. (Nov. 20 2017) – WEDU PBS has expanded its lineup with the new Create® TV channel, bringing inspiring “do-it-yourself” programming to viewers 24 hours a day in West Central Florida. The new channel expands the variety of shows available through WEDU PBS to local residents.

Create® TV includes series and specials on cooking, travel, home improvement, gardening, arts and crafts, along with other lifestyle interests. Shows available to WEDU PBS viewers on the new channel include “America’s Test Kitchen,” “This Old House,” “Craft in America,” and “Curious Traveler.”

Most Americans consider themselves lifelong learners, according to a 2016 report from the Pew Research Center. Eight in ten adults pursue knowledge in areas they’re interested in because they want to learn things they think will make their lives more interesting and full.

“Learning doesn’t end when you reach adulthood. That’s why we’re excited to expand our programming with Create® TV and encourage viewers of all ages to explore new interests and try new things,” said Susan Howarth, president and CEO of WEDU PBS. “Create® TV aligns well with our mission to engage and inspire the community.”

Create® TV’s programming encourages viewers to try something creative, while also learning new facts about the world around them. For example, learn techniques for painting nature and outdoor scenes from internationally renowned marine life artist Wyland while also learning about environmental conservation on “Wyland’s Art Studio.”

As another example, learn new recipes from the South and Southwestern United States while gaining an understanding of the historical perspective of the dishes on “Cook’s Country.”

Create® TV is available on digital channel 3.6, Frontier channel 472 and Comcast/Xfinity channel 206 and 1185. WEDU PBS is working with other cable providers to add the new channel. Episodes of your favorite Create® TV shows can also be viewed online: http://video.wedu.org
