November 14, 2017 by Post

SARASOTA, FL, November 1, 2017 – Sarasota Musica Viva, the area’s finest non-profit chamber music organization is pleased to announce their upcoming “Taking Flight” Concert at ART Avenue Art Gallery at the Westfield-Southgate Mall in Sarasota on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 7:00 PM. The program includes works by Blaz Pucihar, Joseph Jongen, Andy Scott, Felix Mendellsohn and features Sarasota Musica Viva’s Artistic Director and flutist, Linda Bento-Rei along with pianist, Don Bryn. The evening includes interactive program notes with the musicians and passionately beautiful music.

“What we love about this program is the fresh and exhilarating repertoire performed in one of the most intimate environments in which we are able to interact and bring a new awareness and passion for little known pieces to our audience,” explains Linda Bento Rei, Artistic Director.

Additional Sarasota Musica Viva concerts planned for the season are a mixture of the familiar and the unique:

*Sunday, November 26, 2017 at 5:30 PM, “Divine Inspiration”, a refreshing program of a variety of styles of music for flute and harp.

*Friday, January 5, 2018 at 7:00 PM at ART Avenue Art Gallery, Sarasota featuring “Endangered Pieces”, a program of flute and piano repertoire recently recorded and rarely performed by long time duo – Boston Symphony pianist Vytas J. Baksys and Linda Bento-Rei.

*Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 6:00 PM at First Congregational Church, Sarasota, “Narrowly Classical” featuring Boston Symphony pianist, Vytas J. Baksys and colleagues

*Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 5:30 PM, “Peter and the Wolf” and other youthful classics performed by the SMV Woodwind Quintet. This program will celebrate the child in all of us and is appropriate for all ages. Families are encouraged to attend.
