RadioStPete.com Interviews two local authors to celebrate Tampa Bay Readers’ Festival

November 12, 2017 by Post

Local authors Peggy Pennington and Bonnie L. Quick were interviewed by Joe Bourdow of RadioStPete.com for the “Community Spotlight Program ” to highlight the Tampa Bay Readers’ Festival that takes place every year in November at the USF St.Pete campus. Authors and readers of all genres and ages from all over the world attend to talk to other writers and readers.

Since February, The Lutheran Residences Writers’ Group of South Pasadena has met in the fellowship hall every two weeks. Bonnie L. Quick is the founder of the group, which is currently working on publishing an anthology (collection of poems, stories and essays) named “That’s What They Say – Ramblings and Musings from the Woodstock Generation.”

“The writers’ group serves a dual purpose of getting people interested in writing and out of their apartments,” stated Quick. “The people in the building are low-income seniors with little disposable income and sometimes not in very good health. It is a courageous group of people with a zest for life in common. We laugh, have fun, and share life experiences.”

Currently we have a pro-bono cover artist and an editor working on the material from eleven members. We continue to seek funding for publishing.

Peggy Pennington, 84, a resident and member of our group has self-published “I’ve Learned a Thing or Two– The Little Wisdom Book of Quotes, Quips and Comments.

“The most important aspect of this work,” says Pennington, “is that the quotes have stood the test of time and are thought provoking and encouraging.”

Pennington has facilitated many self-help groups and continues to meet with people in groups and individually. Pennington is working on her second book. To purchase “I’ve Learned a Thing or Two“ it is on Amazon.com.

“Elders do more than go to the doctor and write memoires. We desire to be part of what is happening in the world,” adds Quick.

Quick Professional Writing Service is a non-fiction freelance writing service for a wide range of consumer and trade magazines. Quick currently is a correspondent for a construction magazine group. 727 479-7445
