SARASOTA, Fla. (Nov. 7, 2017) – Sarasota attorney Thomas Luzier has been voted chair of the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC). In this role, Luzier will lead FREC’s work to administer and enforce Florida’s real estate license law to protect the state’s consumers.
Luzier, a board-certified real estate lawyer and shareholder of Dunlap & Moran, P.A., has served on FREC since 2015. FREC’s seven members represent different communities throughout Florida and are appointed by Governor Rick Scott to serve four-year terms. Luzier, one of FREC’s two non-realtor (consumer) members, was voted into his new position by his fellow Commission members after serving as FREC’s vice-chair.
“I am honored to serve the State of Florida and its nearly 390,000 licensees as chair of the Florida Real Estate Commission,” said Luzier. “The depth of experience of my fellow commissioners is exceptional. Together with the Division of Real Estate’s accomplished staff, we will continue doing the State’s work as fairly and efficiently as we are able.”
Beyond a legal career spanning more than two decades, Luzier is involved civically as a member of the board of the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art Foundation. A graduate of Leadership Florida, he recently concluded more than a decade of service on the board of trustees of the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. Luzier previously served as chair of the City of Sarasota’s Historic Preservation Board, as well as a member of the Sarasota County Tourist Development Council, and the Super Bowl XLIII Host Committee Board of Directors.
Luzier will assume his new role during FREC’s next meeting Nov. 14-15 in Orlando. Visit www.myfloridalicense.com/dbpr/re/frec.html for more information on FREC.
