PSTA Joins Finance Park at Special Ribbon-Cutting Event

November 1, 2017 by Post

LARGO, Fla. – The Pinellas Education Foundation is proud to welcome the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) to Finance Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Stavros Institute at 12100 Starkey Road in Largo. The dedication will take place on Thursday, November 2 at 3:15 p.m. Media is welcome to attend.

One of the many storefront businesses housed at Finance Park, PSTA has created an interactive space that will allow students to become familiar with public transportation in Pinellas County.

“Safe independent travel on public transportation is a life skill that is fundamental to living in any large city across the country,” said PSTA Media Liaison Ashlie Handy. “These skills will help students build confidence on how to navigate various aspects of riding the bus and better familiar themselves with safe travel practices.”

This is the first time public transportation has been incorporated into the curriculum at Finance Park. The program teaches eighth grade students the basics of personal finance and budgeting through a six-week curriculum that culminates with a full day at the venue.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome PSTA into Finance Park and believe they will fit perfectly within our microcosm of today’s business world,” stated Stacy Carlson, president of Pinellas Education Foundation.
