(Apollo Beach, Florida) – There will be fun for the whole family as the SouthShore community comes together on Thanksgiving morning, November 23 for the Waterset 5K Turkey Trot. Now in its second year, the race benefits three schools near the Waterset community: Doby Elementary School, Eisenhower Middle School and East Bay High School.
Waterset is owned in a joint venture partnership between NORTH AMERICA SEKISUI HOUSE, LLC (NASH), the U.S. business unit and full subsidiary of SEKISUI HOUSE, LTD., Japan’s largest homebuilder and leading diversified developer, and Newland Real Estate Group, LLC, whose development business, Newland Communities, is the master developer of the community. Newland is well known in Tampa due to its highly successful FishHawk Ranch community. Waterset is one of more than 30 communities the NASH-Newland partnership owns together in 11 states across the United States.
The Waterset 5K will be chip timed with a flat race course. Awards will be given for the top male and female overall finishers, as well as Masters, Grand Masters, and the top three male and female finishers in each age category. Walkers are also welcome to join in.
A Kid’s Fun Run on half-mile course, as well as a one-mile course will also be held, and participants will receive a medal and a kid’s race t-shirt.
“We’re so excited to host the Second Annual Waterset Turkey Trot,” said Lynda McMorrow, marketing manager for Waterset by Newland Communities. “This is a wonderful opportunity for our residents and the entire SouthShore community to come together. We’re pleased that so many people are looking forward to the event and that in a very short time, it has already become a favorite local event.”
Waterset will partner with the FishHawk Road Runners, who will oversee timing and course preparation.
