The City of New Port Richey Parks and Recreation Department Youth Advisory Board is pleased to announce they are participating in National Homeless Awareness Month by hosting their 7thAnnual Food Drive. In conjunction with raising awareness of the plight of homelessness in the area and seeking donations of non-perishable food items, they are staging a Cardboard Camp Out to showcase the plight of homeless area youth. The Youth Advisory Board will sleep rough one night in November, experiencing firsthand the difficulties of eating and sleeping as a homeless person.
All food drive donations may be brought to the City of New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center or to numerous downtown restaurants participating in the food drive with donation baskets until November 12, 2017. All donations will stay within the New Port Richey community to help local families.
The City of New Port Richey Parks and Recreation Department Youth Advisory Board consists of fifteen local middle and high school students who donate their time for civic and educational activities within The City of New Port Richey.
